The department has the expertise to manage both acute and chronic skin diseases including acne, psoriasis, leukoderma, pigmentation of the skin, infections (like fungal, sexually transmitted), immune bullous disorders (like pemphigus, pemphigoid group), autoimmune diseases (like lupus, systemic sclerosis), allergic disorders (like urticaria, sun allergies, chemical allergies, drug allergies), diseases of hairs (like baldness/hair fall, hirsutism) and nails, cancers of the skin and genetic diseases of skin.

Skin Biopsy
- Done either to confirm clinical diagnosis, establish a diagnosis in a doubtful skin lesion, and sometimes to strategize treatment. In small lesions, it can also serve as treatment.
- Is a minor procedure, usually done using a disposable punch — such a wound if not on the face, does not need to be stitched. However, depending on the lesion and diagnosis, sometimes a deeper scalpel biopsy will need to be done, and this would need to be stitched.
