SKIN CARE AND DERMATOLOGY

The Department of Dermatology at Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, Prayagraj, offers services to diagnose and treat skin diseases including those of children. The department has the expertise to manage both acute and chronic skin diseases including acne, psoriasis, leukoderma, pigmentation of the skin, infections (like fungal, sexually transmitted), immune bullous disorders (like pemphigus, pemphigoid group), autoimmune diseases (like lupus, systemic sclerosis), allergic disorders (like urticaria, sun allergies, chemical allergies, drug allergies), diseases of hairs (like baldness/hair fall, hirsutism) and nails, cancers of the skin and genetic diseases of skin.

Services Offered

Skin Biopsy

  • Done either to confirm clinical diagnosis, establish a diagnosis in a doubtful skin lesion, and sometimes to strategize treatment. In small lesions, it can also serve as treatment.
  • Is a minor procedure, usually done using a disposable punch — such a wound if not on the face, does not need to be stitched. However, depending on the lesion and diagnosis, sometimes a deeper scalpel biopsy will need to be done, and this would need to be stitched.

Electrosurgery/RFA

  • Used for removal of warts, molluscum contagiosum, seborrheic keratosis, and skin tags. It is also used for skin rejuvenation.
  • Uses electric current to create heat and is used in different modes — electro section, electrocoagulation, electrodessication, and fulguration.
  • Skin lesions are effectively treated while producing minimal side effects and complications by this method.

Cryosurgery

  • Used for treatment of warts, molluscum contagiosum, seborrheic keratosis, skin tags, and other small lesions.
  • Utilizes extremely cold temperature of a cryogen (usually liquid nitrogen), delivered in a controlled fashion. There are several ways to deliver the cryogen.
  • Simple, cost-effective, efficacious, and aesthetically acceptable modality. There are several ways of doing cryotherapy.

Chemical Peels

  • Common indications of chemical peels include acne (some types), to improve skin texture (blotchy complexion, uneven, dull skin tone, fine wrinkles, especially under the eyes and around the mouth) and pigmentation of the skin (freckles, melasma).
  • There are different peels available like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid peel, and combination peels. Depending on the chemical and its concentration, peels can be superficial, medium, and deep.

Micro-needling Radiofrequency

  • MNRF is also called collagen induction therapy.
  • Is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, and stretch marks.

Laser

  • Laser facility is available for Pigmentation, Acne Scar, Skin Rejuvenation, Tattoo Removal, and Laser Hair Removal (LHR).
